The course is delivered to intermediate and advanced students of English (B2 and C1). The major part of the course is formed practical classes, at the beginning of which students are introduced with the topic or task type related theoretical material. Within the course, students develop a skill to determine English, Latvian and Russian academic discourse features. During the classes, students are exposed to a variety of academic genre texts and related empirical material that develops their skill to write paragraphs, essays, abstracts, and summaries in English. In order to improve their academic writing and editing skills and develop the ability to work autonomously, students are required to peer edit and analyse their group mates’ written paragraphs and essays and compile essay topic related glossaries.
